Chronicle Budget Plans Update: Basic and Advanced Options
We’re excited to introduce an upgrade to Budget Plans in Chronicle. This update adds two new options — Basic and Advanced — giving you more control over how shifts connect to your budget plans. You can select your preferred mode in the Toolbox and Company Settings.
Basic Mode
The Basic option adds all shifts to every budget plan automatically. It offers a simple, one-step setup for teams that want complete coverage without extra configuration. You don’t need to assign individual shifts manually. This mode works well for smaller businesses or those with uniform staffing patterns. It ensures every shift appears in your budget view, keeping calculations and reports consistent and up to date.
Advanced Mode
The Advanced option gives you precise control. You can define which shifts belong to each tag or budget plan. Chronicle includes only the shifts you’ve assigned. Shifts that fall outside the plan appear greyed out, helping you spot what’s included at a glance. This mode suits larger organisations or departments that manage separate budgets by project, cost centre, or team. It prevents overlap and keeps each plan focused on relevant labour costs.
Why This Matters
These new options make Budget Plans more flexible and easier to manage. You can start with Basic for simplicity or switch to Advanced for detailed control. Either way, the update helps your organisation plan more accurately and work more efficiently.
