The Problem
With offices across the North West and field-based engineers, the company had limited visibility of employee arrival times and hours worked.
Although vehicle trackers were in place, there was no reliable way to confirm where staff were and when. With over 20 employees, monitoring attendance through manual timesheets was inefficient, time-consuming, and created compliance challenges — costing the business both time and money.
Our Solution
Chronicle Online implemented it’s Chronicle Time & Attendance (T&A) system to meet their needs.
- Smart phone clocking with secure GPS location tracking
- Facial recognition for accurate, fraud-free clocking
- Clock in/out capability from any location
- Geofencing alerts for unauthorised clock-ins
- Accurate recording of working hours
- Cost allocation to specific cost centres
- One-tap break management
- Anti-spoofing technology to prevent ‘buddy clocking’
- Employee access to shifts and timesheets
- Holiday entitlement tracking and in-app booking
- Send messages to managers or employees within the app
- In-app incident recording

Project Summary
The implementation was straightforward, with the system going live less than two months after receiving the completed project pack.
Darius Govender from Chronicle led the system setup and training remotely, delivering three one-hour training sessions via Microsoft Teams.
“This was a simple project, even though the customer’s requirements changed during the project to add in holiday, sickness and absence tracking. We accommodated this within the training and stayed on schedule and within budget” – Darius Govender, Project Manager, Chronicle Computing
Outcome
The new Chronicle system delivered a cloud based, efficient time & attendance system. Breaks are deducted automatically, and overtime is managed through work records in Chronicle. RTC can now easily monitor hours worked throughout the month, enabling timely exception management and streamlining payroll processing.
Stacey Buck, Operations Manager for RTC, said “Chronicle is working really well for RTC. We now accurately know what hours our employees have worked, manage holidays, sickness and absence, and easily manage exceptions. This ensures payroll is accurate and no one is over or under paid”.
