About Landford Stone
Landford Stone is a provider of quality stone for the home, such as granite, quartz and marble. To illustrate their industry impact, we can look at a case study. They are a family-run company whose directors have worked in the industry for over 45 years. This case study shows that three generations of the family currently contribute to the business, working alongside 45 skilled employees who are well-known in the industry and have stayed with the company for many years.
Their vision is:
- To continue to be the No.1 stone fabrication company in the UK.
- To take pride in what we do, working alongside high calibre trade partners producing the best stone works across the UK.
- To continue to train and retain some of the best, highly qualified and skilled stonemasons in the industry.

The Problem
Landford Stone were keen to move to a cloud-based system because their previous Time & Attendance product was on-premise. As a result, they had to host a server onsite. Their Time & Attendance system could only be accessed onsite and required ongoing server maintenance; therefore, it added extra costs. Since the clocking-in terminal was outside, they had to make it waterproof. Moreover, the customer didn’t want employees to clock in and out for unpaid breaks, and they wanted minimal manual data adjustments. Consequently, it was important that the data could export directly to payroll. This is detailed in a case study of their implementation.
Our Solution
Chronicle Online proposed Chronicle Time & Attendance (T&A) system which could meet their needs.
- Waterproof IP65 terminal, which could be installed outside and withstand all weathers
- Chronicles cloud based software can be accessed from anywhere, is scalable and has no infrastructure costs for the customer.
- Flexible shift options to cover all their shift patterns
- Automatic deduction of breaks
- The ability to check hours for payroll weekly via the attendance screen
- Existing reports which could export to Quickbooks for payroll

Project Summary
This was a quick setup, with the system going live just one month after receiving the customer’s completed project pack. Zac Ballard from Chronicle led the training and system setup remotely, with training carried out across three one-hour sessions via Teams. This case study emphasizes Landford Stone then had a two-month testing period.
Outcome
he new Chronicle system delivered a cloud-based, efficient Time & Attendance solution. In addition, it provided a real-time fire reporting list, so organizations can track attendance and improve safety. Breaks were deducted automatically, and the hours data could be exported to send to Quickbooks for payroll. The customer can easily view hours worked throughout the month, meaning any exceptions can be dealt with in a timely manner, making payroll quicker and easier. This case study outlines the success of the system.
‘Chronicle couldn’t have been more helpful from the beginning. They set everything up really quickly, and have been great whenever we’ve had questions. We couldn’t have asked for any more.’
